Yes, I work in fashion, but I’m not the type to spend too much money updating my new-season wardrobe. I’ll pay attention to the runways during fashion week (it’s kind of my job), and I’ll definitely be doing some shopping (also kind of my job), but I tend to limit my investment purchases to classic styles I feel confident I’ll get a good cost-per-wear return on.

When it comes to seasonal trends I want to test-drive, I’m generally looking to scoop up pieces that ring in at under $100. If that rings true for you as well—and you’ve got a lot on your mind right about now, like which fall TV shows to get seriously invested in (hello, Maniac!)—you’ve come to the right place. Keep reading for my roundup of under-$100 pieces your fall wardrobe requires.

1. JUMPSUITS

Some mornings I like waking up and putting pieces together. Most mornings, though, I rely on jumpsuits. Easy.

2. WRAP SKIRTS

Think you can’t snag a wrap midi skirt for under $100? Think again. I’ve currently got both of these options sitting in my cart.

3. WIDE-LEG JEANS

Yes, Topshop has the lion’s share of the under-$100 wide-leg jeans I’ve had my eye on, but there are also good options from Free People and Urban Outfitters ($69).

4. CORDUROY JACKETS

Light layers I can pile on during this transitional time are much appreciated. Case in point: the boxy oversize corduroy jackets—like this one and this one—I’ve seen all over my Instagram feed (you know, in between videos of puppies and outrageous travel content).

5. FLORAL DRESSES

There are surprisingly good sub-$100 floral dresses all over the high street. In addition to the picks, I’m also considering this lavender Fashion Union pick ($51).

6. WESTERN-STYLE BOOTS

Western boots, cowboy boots—whatever you call them, they’re essential right now. Note that the first pair is listed in men’s sizes, so make sure to size down accordingly.

7. CHECKED BLAZERS

Yes, a quick look around the L.A. office reveals that checked blazers are definitely still very much A Thing.

8. CHUNKY SWEATERS

Contrary to popular belief, L.A. does occasionally get cold enough to warrant piling on a super-warm, cozy sweater like the About Us number above or ASOS Design’s pretty mint pick.

9. MULES

Sorry, I’m just not a sneaker girl. For fall, I’m stocking up on fun mules that’ll add a bit of interest to even the most basic of looks. See also: Marc Fisher LTD’s patent-leather Hilda style (a steal at $96).

10. GRAPHIC TEES

The midterm elections are just around the corner, and why not show up to the polls in style? (Also very into all of Ganni’s delicious-looking statement makers.)
